Shown on this slide is a Bodi plot example for a 600 MHz oscilloscope, where the 3 dB point is .707 of the input. This would be a typical response curve of a 600 MHz oscilloscope. Adding a passive probe, which typically has a bandwidth of 500 MHz, it can be seen that the response curve rolls off a little quicker, before 600 MHz. Adding an active probe, which will be discussed in more detail, the bandwidth of the system is extended to beyond the 600 MHz. Therefore, when using the active probe the system bandwidth is guaranteed to be 600 MHz.
