Shown on this slide is the screen layout. The sampling interval is the time between samples, typically 8-bit A/D converters are used, resulting in 256 levels of the ADC spread across eight divisions vertically. LeCroy has recently announced 12-bit A/D converters in an oscilloscope, so that would result in increased dynamic range, 4096 ADC levels. Horizontal resolution is ten divisions across, for example when the time per division is set to 1 µs per division the display equals a 10 µs capture window, or acquisition time.
