ADI’s MicroConverter portfolio of products can be split into 2 different families - 1) The ADuC8xx Series based on the 8052, 8-bit core and, 2) The ADuC70xxx Series based on the ARM7 16/32-bit core. The rated performance of the 8052 core is 0.18 Dhrystone MIPS/MHz while the ARM7 core is rated at 0.75 Dhrystone MIPS/MHz, a significant difference. Also, each part integrates either a SAR (successive approximation register) ADC or one or more Sigma-Delta ADC’s for higher resolution. One or more DAC output channels are also common across ADI parts.
