Overview-Slide7

A good way to see the peripheral compatibility within the same range of products is to show block diagrams side by side. All products will be discussed in this course in a similar fashion. Shown here is the R8C/2J and 2H options and specifications in more detail. In terms of peripherals, the main difference between these two groups is the addition of Timer RE in the 2H. This block along with a 32kHz sub-clock provides real-time clock functionality. The 2H also incorporates an additional UART channel as indicated in the bulleted features. Finally, one other characteristic to note is that both of these groups only include internal oscillator options for main system clocks. The main reason for this is to maximize the use of I/O in these low-pin count devices, which are typically targeted for very cost sensitive applications.
