The products and technologies that this presentation will review come from the MPD Division of STMicroelectronics. The MPD Division, and ST as a whole, have approximately ten years of experience creating this type of solution for the RF infrastructure, base stations specifically. ST has been used in base station applications for a long time with BiCMOS products, in particular the RF synthesizers down converters, and these products are now used in cellular base stations all over the world. ST has a broad family of technologies for these products and for ASICs as well; technologies such as HCMOS9SOI and RF CMOS, are used on front-end modules and integrated transceivers. Additionally, ST has substantial internal design expertise and a proven track record with their ASICs. ST is investing strongly in the MPD Division, and in their key technologies. For example, in BiCMOS there is a full family of technologies starting with BiCMOS7 going through BiCMOS9, and the latest BiCMOS55, a 55-nanometer BiCMOS process which will be discussed later in the presentation. There are also RF CMOS technologies, and technologies like the HCMOS9SOI for use in RF front ends, which are being used by ASIC and COT customers. New IPs are being designed for RF, microwave, and millimeter wave RF applications. Support for customer-owned tooling and ASIC custom designs are being constantly enhanced.
