Some of the other serial communications include the FlexCAN, the eSCI, and the DSPI. FlexCAN is NXP’s next generation implementation of the standard CAN protocol that complies with the CAN 2.0b specification, but with added features. The eSCI, or enhanced Serial Communications Interface, is feature-rich and includes full duplex operation, standard non-return-to-zero format, 13-bit baud rate selection, programmable eight or nine-bit data formats, programmable parity 10/13 bit break signals, separately enabled transmitters and receivers, and interrupt-driven operation with eight flags.
