The MPC5553 runs at 132MHz, and features 1.5MB of flash memory which is automotive qualified with RWW capability and ECC for added system protection. In total there is 86.5kB SRAM that is split into 8kB of combined Instruction and Data Cache, 64kB dedicated to data processing, and 14.5kB dedicated to the eTPU. The MPC5553 features one 32-channel eTPU that is supported with the 14.5kB dedicated SRAM. The eTPU can effectively act as a co-processor performing tasks and functions with no intervention from the CPU required, making it ideal for performing complex timing and control functions. In addition to the eTPU there is a 24-channel eMIOS, which can not operate without the CPU, intended for complex control and timing functions. The MPC5553 has a set of control modules for connection to peripherals and networks. The four FlexCAN modules on board connect to CAN networks, while the two Serial Communications Interfaces connect to external serial peripherals. The MPC5553 has 3 SPI ports. Integrated into the MPC5553, is a 10/100BaseT Fast Ethernet controller that provides a standard networking interface, compatible with 100Mbps networks.
