The MPC5566 operates at 144MHz, and features 3MB flash memory which is automotive qualified with RWW capability and ECC for added system protection. In total there is 184kB SRAM split into 32kB combined Instruction and Data Cache, 128kB dedicated to data processing, and 24kB dedicated to the eTPU. The MPC5566 features one 64-channel eTPU, supported by 24kB dedicated SRAM. The eTPU can effectively act as a co-processor performing tasks and functions with no intervention from the CPU required. It is ideal for performing complex timing and control functions. The MPC5566 has a set of control modules for connection to peripherals and networks. The three FlexCAN modules on board connect to CAN networks, while the two Serial Communications Interfaces connect to external serial peripherals. This device has 4 SPI ports with support on the DSPI for up to 6 chip selects. Integrated into the MPC5566, is also a 10/100BaseT Fast Ethernet controller that provides a standard networking interface, compatible with 100Mbps networks.
