This chart compares Capacitance (“X” axis) vs ESR in Ohms on (“Y” axis). The advantages of using polymer aluminum capacitors vs other non-ceramic technologies are the ESR and impedance of Murata’s polymer capacitor. Both are lower than other non-ceramic type capacitors because a multilayer structure design uses a conductive polymer for the cathode. Therefore, the ECAS series exhibits high performance for noise suppression, ripple absorption, and decoupling. Murata’s solution is targeted for applications that require low single digit ESR, high ripple current, and mid-range capacitance up to 470µF.
