In summary, Bourns has developed the T Series Fast Acting GDT product line to work in conjunction with TBU® High-Speed Protectors. A fast acting GDT may be defined by its impulse sparkover limiting at 5kV, 1.2/50 microseconds waveform. The T Series Fast Acting GDTs are designed to limit the voltage overshoot associated with fast rising transients, protecting the TBU® HSP from damage. The TBU® High-Speed Protector is a silicon-based, solid-state, resettable device which is placed in series with a signal path. The HSP restricts line current to less than 1 mA and will block all system voltages up to the rated limits. The HSP resets after the surge, when the voltage returns to below to the VRESET level. This combination provides an integrated protection solution designed to meet the requirements of many telecom and industrial applications.
