Blue modules fit in a variety of applications. The basic concept is very simple, a serial cable connection can be replaced by a wireless connection among devices supporting the serial port profile, or SPP. The ST Blue modules, on top of SPP, support the iAP (iPOD Accessory Protocol) profile, enabling communication with Apple Bluetooth enabled devices. This slide shows examples of possible applications from the endless list of new use cases being added daily. ST Blue modules can make a smartphone communicate with a personal tracker device, or transform it into a garage opener, or enable hand-held devices to collect data from equipment just walking by, making data collection easier, and not limited to diagnostic or statistic purposes.
