LPC1700 Microcontroller Slide 2
The LPC1700 is pin-to-pin compatible with the popular ARM7-based NXP LPC2300 series, which allows for a smooth migration for ARM7 customers to move on to Cortex-M3. The NXP implementation of Cortex-M3 has the following key implementations: an MPU (Memory Protection Unit), which can be a great complement for an RTOS based application; a NVIC (Nested Vectored Interrupt Controller) that offers defined interrupt latency; and a WIC (Wakeup Interrupt controller) that allows fast wakeup from power down modes. The Flash Accelerator in the NXP Cortex-M3 allows the devices to execute out of Flash with zero-wait states. The LPC1700 also has excellent DMA support that fully enables the high end serial interfaces like USB, Ethernet and CAN. With 15 serial interfaces, this device is tailored for communication. The LPC1700 is more power efficient in active mode and it would consume less than 1uA in Deep Power down mode. Also, the LPC1700 is currently the industry’s fastest running Cortex-M3 processor at 100MHz.
