A narrower range of isolation voltages is typical of the medium power DC/DC converters, driven by safety agency standards for IT equipment. Single, dual, and triple regulated output products are available. These converters offer industry standard footprints including DIPs, 1" x 1", 1" x 2", 1.6" x 2", 2" x 2", and 2" x 3". Most of these are designed with pins for through-hole mounting, but some surface-mount units are available. The regulated architectures support additional features such as remote on/off control, output voltage trimming, thermal protection, input under-voltage lock out, and over-voltage protection, to name a few. The regulated architectures also support the use of synchronous rectification that yields higher efficiencies. Most of the industrial products are encapsulated, although the more recent designs (e.g. the UEI series) we are working to offer a choice of open-frame or encapsulated construction. In addition, these converters boast robust designs, with internal SMD construction and full encapsulation using UL approved materials. They are also capable of operating at full load over industrial temperature ranges. Most of the regulated products carry UL and cUL recognition to UL/EN 60950. Murata Power Solutions presently manufactures only RoHS compliant DC/DC converters.
