Murata’s medium powered industrial DC/DC converters can be grouped into 2 categories: regulated and post-regulated. Most of Murata’s regulated converters have input operating ranges of 2:1, while some operate over a 4:1 input range. For example, the input voltage of a converter whose nominal input voltage is 24V and has a 2:1 input operating range, can be operated from 18V to 36V. This makes them appropriate for applications where the input voltage is unregulated, such as battery sources. Furthermore, the output voltage of regulated converters provide tight load regulation. Like the unregulated converters, the post-regulated units tolerate a fairly narrow input voltage range (typically ±10%). However, like the fully regulated converters, they provide tight load regulation. Unlike either the unregulated or the fully regulated products, the post-regulated products present low output noise (PARD or period and random disturbance). They are referred to as post-regulated products because the regulation is accomplished through a linear regulator that is added on to the output after the basic conversion is accomplished.
