OmniFET III low side drivers offer new features that improve over load protection, and enhance diagnostic feedback. The OmniFET III product family includes single channel and dual channel devices with RDS(ON) values from 30 mΩ to 300 mΩ. All OmniFET III devices clamp overvoltage at 41 V minimum. Linear current limit protection limits the instantaneous power dissipation for any particular application or fault condition. Also, when a overload condition is sustained, a secondary, low-level current limit is enabled to further protect the device. This self enabled lower current limit, which is about one half of the normal operating current limit, significantly enhances the long term robustness of the device. For packaging options such as SO8 or Power SS012 that allow a five pin interface to the OmniFET, a separate supply pin and diagnostic status pin are available. The separate supply pin brings power to the internal logic of the device from a 5 V regulator and enables OFF-state diagnostics feedback from the separate status pin. Three terminal implementations do not include status feedback, but include all the protection features available for OmniFET III. Three pin devices are pin compatible with most similarly packaged power MOSFETs and are as simple to use.
