ST VIPower™ OmniFETs provide protected, logic level power MOSFET switching on the ground or “low” side of the load. OmniFETs are suitable for a multitude of applications requiring drivers able to protect themselves, the load, and the system against hazardous conditions such as overvoltage, overload, and/or short circuit faults while providing feedback to the controller that indicates fault condition status. All ST OmniFETs are automotive products, designed for the harsh operating environments of automotive applications, and are fully qualified to AEC-Q100 automotive requirements. The use of these products is not limited to automotive. Many DC power switching applications inside and outside the transportation industry will benefit from the protection, diagnostics, and simplicity available from ST’s family of protected low side drivers. The OmniFET brings automotive expectations for quality, reliability, and safety to a broad range of applications such as bulb lighting and LED illumination, relay and solenoid control, motor control, and many other DC load switching and PWM control scenarios. OmniFETs are part of the ST VIPower line of automotive products and complement other product families such as smart “high side” drivers and solid state relays, and integrated H-bridges for motor control.
