Interface and wire sealing grommets are bonded into place with Amphenol proprietary epoxy – again, the same as is used on the MIL Spec products. These grommets seal out moisture and debris to an IP67 level, allowing for use in wet and damp applications without booting – saving the customer assembly time and costs. Unlike many older connectors, the ability to terminate a wire braid is built into the housing. No need to add a backshell just to terminate a braid. The customer can terminate the braid directly to the connector – saving time, money and eliminating weight and complexity. Solaris is gender reversible. The latch is color coded to the gender for easy identification. Green is for a plug with sockets, blue is for a plug with pins. Housings are also color coded and match the keying. This makes identifying a connector's mate quick and easy, even in low light conditions – what is referred to as E-Z mate identification. Finally, Solaris uses MIL Standard contacts. M39029/58 pin and /57 socket style MIL Spec contacts. This ensures wide spread availability from multiple sources which are familiar to one's wire harness teams.
