Heat dissipation is dependent on the thermistor resistance value, supply current, as well as the heat dissipation ability of the component. The tool will compute the most ideal nominal resistance for the thermistor based on the user’s inputs. The user has the possibility to choose the minimal self heating, or select another value instead. If the thermistor will be mounted in a probe assembly which can dissipate a lot of heat, the user can then select the “Neglect Self Heating” option. However, as a general rule of thumb, this option should not be chosen if the mechanical execution is an NTC SMD in open air.
