Si533x/5x Any-Rate Clock Generators and Clock Buffers Slide 4
The Si5338 can be driven with a low cost fundamental mode crystal or a reference clock. Any crystal frequency from 8 MHz to 30 MHz can be accepted. Any input clock frequency from 5 to 700 MHz can be accepted. From this single input, the device generates four differential outputs clocks. Each of the four output clocks can be individually programmed via a simple I²C serial interface in terms of frequency, format, and voltage. This provides hardware designers a tremendous amount of flexibility in their designs since the device can be simply programmed to meet their end application requirements. If the customer’s frequency plan changes, the device is easily reconfigurable via the I²C interface. The crystal frequency does not need to be changed if the frequency plan changes. To minimize power consumption, the core VDD runs off a different supply voltage than the four outputs. Additionally, 1.8 V, 2.5 V and 3.3 V core VDD options are available. Device performance is guaranteed across any core VDD. The device is packaged in a RoHS6, Pb-free space-saving 4x4 mm QFN, 24-lead package.
