The Isolator µModule® Technology uses inductive coupling through coupled signal inductors embedded in the substrate to provide galvanic isolation across the barrier. This fully differential inductive coupling provides better common mode transient immunity compared to competitors' single ended inductive coupling. The LTM2882 has a self-contained 2500VRMS isolated DC-to-DC converter including decoupling capacitors and transformer. The LDO provides a well-regulated 5V output for use by external applications. The LTM2882 integrates all components necessary to create a complete, isolated, full or half duplex RS232 transceiver with integrated power, with no external components required. Utilizing Linear Technology’s expertise in power supply design, the LTM2882 achieves high efficiency of up to 65%, and supports surplus isolated power for neighboring functions while operating at RS232 compliant signal levels. Internal DC-to-DC converters generate +7V and -6.3V supplies to guarantee RS232 compliant output levels of ±5V.
