The QorIQ P2020 processor is the first QorIQ solution to reach qualification stage. Based on NXP’s e500 core, it provides a migration path to faster performance and dual-core while maintaining a lower operating temperature due to its design and 45 nanometer process technology. The three key value propositions of this processor are scalability, low power, and high levels of integration. As stated earlier, the P2020 and P2010 are pin compatible with the P1020, P1011, P1021 and P1012. Therefore, a customer can scale from 533MHz to 1.2GHz with differentiated features in a common package. Since it is based on NXP’s established e500 core, it is also based on a common tool chain which provides ease of migration from prior NXP technologies. At 2.4 dhrystone MIPs to Megahertz, the QorIQ processor family is more efficient - getting more work done per clock cycle. The QorIQ is based on 45 nanometer technology, enabling the processor to achieve better power/performance ratios at a sub 8 Watt maximum power. The P2020 is also highly integrated with PCI express, gigabit Ethernet, USB, and Serial RapidIO. Where competitors require external bridge chips to achieve, NXP enables in a single SOC.
