summary
In summary, the QorIQ P2 series of processors provides an excellent ecosystem, internally developed software and hardware as well as support from a variety of third party partners to help speed a design to market, and a scalable migration path which provides an improved performance/watt/dollar migration from earlier PowerQUICC products as well as a 4.5x performance range in a single 689-pin TEPBGA package. The P2020/P2010 builds on a common hardware platform to enable a wide range of system performance to encompass many potential applications. High efficiency and frequency Power Architecture™ at 2.4MIPS/MHz means fewer cores are needed to run an application. It is not the number of cores that designates higher performance, rather the size of the core and the efficiency of the architecture. Also, the low power requirements enables fanless, “green”, and low cost designs which improves reliability. Additionally, a host of integrated peripherals allow flexibility to address a wide range of applications and reduce system cost. Finally, dual and single core options provide the ability to develop an application on a single core derivative and move to dual core at the designer's own pace without hardware changes.
