LUXEON Z Colors are small, high power LEDs. They were made to give customers freedom of design in their applications, by removing the constraints of other color LED products. Similar to Rebel, LUXEON Z offers a full selection of color that nearly covers the entire visible spectrum. This allows users to have granularity in their selection while also enabling a broad color mixing gamut. The 2.2mm package can be placed as close as 200µm (microns) apart, allowing the user to pack multiple emitters onto very small areas. LUXEON Z comes in an undomed package. Typical domed LEDs maximize light output by adding a dome to spread light across what is known as a Lambertian curve. Without a dome, the LUXEON Z offers more collimated light output, making it easier for optical designers to achieve narrow beam angles. Also in the LUXEON Z family is a full white portfolio containing seven CCT/CRI combinations, which customers can easily use in conjunction with colors as they are all on the same footprint. Finally, the true value of LUXEON Z is that it enables freedom of design. The undomed package gives the user full optical control while the micro-footprint allows the user to place them in any arrangement they desire. It is truly as close as a designer can come to working with LEDs at the chip level. Many regular color LEDs come on 12mm packages, which means that four LUXEON Z LEDs can easily fit into the same space. Going beyond the generic 4-up solutions, users can place any number of LUXEON Z emitters they desire into larger color spots with the same amount of flux density as the 4-up. There is no reason to stop at just 4-up. With minimal space wasted on packaging, users can pack any number of LUXEON Z LEDs into a single dense color spot.
