The OEM Configuration Utility also comes with a Range Test Tab for performing data communications tests with the radios. The Range Test can be used to transmit data out the serial port and, depending on the test selection, report back any errors received. The Test Selections will identify what port of the software data is being transmitted on and what port, if any, the data is expected to be received on. The most common test is the Port 1 Loopback. When selected, the Port 1 Loopback will transmit a set string defined by the Transmit Packet Selection out Port 1 of the software and will then check to ensure the same data is received back on Port 1. This test is run with a loopback on the remote side to send the data back to the software. This will test bidirectional data transfer between two radios when one radio is connected to Port 1 of the software and the other radio has a loopback on the Transmit and Receive lines of serial port.
