When first installing a ConnexLink, a few things must be taken into account. The RS-232 ConnexLinks are DCE devices, therefore they can communicate directly with a DTE device, such as a PC with a simple straight through cable, but they will need a Null Modem cable to interface with another DCE device. Also, due to the high output power on the 900MHz ConnexLinks, the radios must be at least 15ft apart for optimum communication when configured at the Full Power configuration setting. Finally, even though the RF data rate is fixed on ConnexLinks, they must be configured to the correct serial interface baud rate as the device they are physically connected to. For 900MHz radios, the default baud rate is 57,600, for 2.4GHz radios the default baud rate is 115,200. If a different baud rate is used, then the ConnexLinks must first be configured to the appropriate rate.
