The KEMET X capacitor series R46 and PHE840M are optimized to meet the most common requirements for EMI capacitors used across the line. The rated AC voltage of 275 is universally accepted for power supplies using the normal 120 or 240VAC line. In addition, there is in America an industrial three-phase 480VAC system. Some equipment, for example lighting fixtures, operate across one phase at a voltage of 277V. To support those applications the KEMET series R46 is UL and CSA rated at 310VAC and the series PHE840M is UL and CSA rated at 280VAC. For a given capacitance value, an EMI capacitor in a smaller pitch is more effective at filtering high frequency EMI than one in a larger pitch. This is due to the lower ESL. The footprint will also be smaller. For these reasons the KEMET series R46 and PHE840M were designed to maximize the capacitance available in each pitch. The KEMET series R46 is manufactured in Mexico, at two locations in Asia, and in both eastern and western Europe.
