The key features of the 3M brand wiremount socket are highlighted here. The beryllium copper contacts are housed inside a molded insulator of the thermoplastic polymer polybutylene terephthalate which is resistant to solvents, shrinks very little during forming, is mechanically strong, and heat-resistant. A cover of the same material ensures the ribbon cable is placed correctly for termination and protects the contacts during the service life of the connector. An optional stainless steel strain relief clip fits over the cover. A centerbump ensures the header is the correct way around before mating. Optional friction locks help to keep the connectors mated in use. For details of the socket’s electrical performance ratings, see the 3M tech sheet number 78-5100-2436-3 which is available from 3Mconnectors.com.
