There are three main attributes of 3M™ VHB™ Tape that are of interest to electronics applications: bonding, sealing, and shock & vibration absorption. As seen in earlier applications, it is very strong and can seal liquids making it an excellent gasket material for critical applications since it can bond and seal simultaneously. Also, since the foam is a polymer, it has viscoelastic properties and has the capability to absorb and dissipate dynamic loads meaning the foam is tough under shock loading and allows the bond line to withstand high dynamic loads.
