Grace Software Graphical User Interface Slide 5

To further help users streamline the peripheral setup process, Grace™ has been fitted with additional features focusing on ease of use. Shown on the top left of this slide are seven pages of documentation. These were pulled from the MSP430 user’s guide, and fully explain the various configuration options that are available for the 10-bit ADC at a bit by bit level. Rather than flipping through pages of documentation, Grace has taken all of the same useful information within those pages, and streamlined them into one screenshot of Grace. The software is based heavily on MSP430 documentation, including User’s Guides and datasheets, which means developers get a consistent look and feel between the printed literature and the view points of Grace. The information of the seven pages within one screenshot can be provided with extensive use of helpful tooltips and popups. The interactive elements within Grace allow users to hover over a particular block to get relevant information. This allows developers to understand exactly what they are doing as they interface with a specific peripheral. This also means that users, especially new users, are not intimidated by all of the information within the documentation. Instead, the user can see this useful information only when it is needed. Since Grace is based on MSP430 documentation, and experienced MSP430 users have a benefit, experienced users, who are already familiar with MSP430 documentation will feel right at home navigating through Grace. The new MSP430 users can learn about MSP430’s peripherals at a bit-by-bit level, all while getting familiarized with MSP430’s documentation style. Finally, another feature within Grace is the inclusion of example projects. These example projects come pre-loaded with Grace and assist users to learn about Code Composer Studio and the Grace plug in. These example projects can be used as a learning tool, or as a starting point for the user’s application development.
