This slide looks at the effect of applying the Flex Suppressor® on the RFID antenna and how effectively this will change the communication distance. For this demonstration, on the top left an antenna is installed to act as reader/writer, and on the right a mobile phone is lodged on a slider. Sliding the phone to the left will allow the user to determine the detection distance. With a mobile phone that is not using the Flex Suppressor, the communication distance will be 45 mm. By attaching the Flex Suppressor on the RFID antenna module in the phone, the detection distance will increase up to 130 mm, creating an improvement of 85 mm. Almost tripling the communication range is of course of interest for this kind of phone application. However, the interest is not only limited to such applications, as there is a growing demand for improved communication distance in many other RFID, NFC, or contactless applications.
