Inside the box, you’ll find the Type2EG evaluation board, a quick start guide, and a USB cable. The Type2EG BLE module features Bluetooth 5.2 with an onboard antenna and multiple interfaces. The evaluation board features automatic power supply switching with an on board regulator for switching between USB and the 3 volt battery, a header for external power supplies, an 8 pin DIP switch for UART communication and external device isolation, and multiple general purpose IOs.

In this demo, we’ll follow the setup procedure for obtaining accurate power measurements. First, move all switches on the DEBUG-EN switch to OFF and connect the USB cable to your evaluation board and PC. The D23 LED will begin blinking. Press the SW1 button to stop blinking, and press again to resume blinking. Remove the shorting jumper from the VBAT—SEL header, and the D23 LED will stop blinking. Now connect an ammeter in series across the VOUT and VBAT pins on the VBAT—SEL header to measure current.
