Renesas has launched RZ/A1-LC and RZ/A1-LU MPUs to offer optimized price performance points to RZA developers. RZ/A1-LC is a 2MB economy version of the 3MB RZ/A1-L, and the RZ/A1-LU offers higher-end features, such as JPEG compression and enhanced security in a 3MB device. The RZ/A family of embedded MPUs now consists of RZ/A1-L, LU, LC, M, and H devices. The focus of RZ/A is mid-range HMI applications in White Goods, Industrial and Medical. The value proposition of using RZ/A is especially high when the solution does not require external RAM next to the very large embedded SRAM. In this scenario, RZ/A MPUs function almost like an MCU with high performance, leading to many advantages in medium-range HMI systems. As users can see, the embedded SRAM scales up from 2MB all the way to 10MBs. The architecture is based on an Arm® Cortex®-A9 running at 400MHz. HMI resolutions up to 1280 x 800 are possible relying on embedded SRAM only and assuming double buffering and 32-bits per pixel.
