The NSE-5310 position sensor was developed to provide equally high resolution motion control sensing. Less than 2mm in thickness, this sensor provides 0.5 micron resolution and 2 micron repeatability. This advanced, system-on-a-chip, detects a position of a linear magnet placed in close proximity to the face of the sensor. As the magnet moves across the face of the chip, an array of integrated Hall effect sensors detects the magnetic field change, the analog signals are conditioned and interpolated, and an A/D converter creates a digital position with I2C output. The system requires no external pulse counters, is robust to shock, light and contamination, and has integrated signal conditioning to compensate for external magnetic fields. The system is also available in SPI version with the AS5311.
