New SMD Switching Regulator Series Offers Upgraded Replacement for TI Power Trends ModulesThis new line will help customers avoid costly re-designs of equipment using Power Trends switching regulators Recently, RECOM introduced new compact, low-profile SMD Switching Regulators, based on the well-established Innoline R78-family. The new R-78T series are pin compatible with many Texas Instrument Powertrend series, such as the PT5100, PT78ST100, and 78SR100 series. There are standard pinning options including EAC (/AC), EAL (AL) or EFC (FC). The new R-78T series provides optional regulated 3.3 V, 5 V, or 12 V at 1 A in continuous operation, but can also handle peak currents up to 1.5 A for 10s. Due to their high efficiency of up to 95%, the modules do not require fans or heatsinks. They can operate reliably at temperatures between -40 ° C and +85 ° C without derating. With a wide input voltage range of 7 V to 42 V and no heatsinks, these modules are a space-saving solution for portable or battery-operated applications. The modules measure only 23 x 27.2 x 10mm or 23 x 29.4 x 8mm. They are packaged for fully automatic assembly with "tape & reel" or "tray" options, and are designed for the reflow soldering process. The warranty period is 3 years.
