PD70211 from Microsemi Corporation is an advanced PD interface IC with integrated switching (PWM) regulator control for powered devices in PoE applications. It supports IEEE802.3af, IEEE802at, HDBaseT, and general 2/4-pair configurations. The PD70211 front-end includes an advanced classification block that supports 2, 3, 4, and 6 event classifications. Using the SUPP Sx pins, it identifies which of the four pairs of the cable receives power and generates appropriate flags. The IC features an internal bleeder for discharging the input capacitor of the DC/DC converter rapidly to ensure fast redetection and port power-up in case of sudden removal and re-insertion of the Ethernet cable into the RJ-45. The advanced PWM current mode section supports synchronous flyback and active clamp forward topologies, as well as buck, boost, and more. The PD70211 is ideal for IEE 802.3a/at, power forwarding, security cameras, Wi-Fi, IP telephony, and any other PoE applications.
