Why Matter Matters

Matter is an industry-unifying protocol designed for the smart home. It has broad support from a wide array of smart home device manufacturers, leading semiconductor companies and popular ecosystems like Google Home, Apple, Nest and Alexa from Amazon and many more. The Connectivity Standards Alliance, or CSA, was formerly the Zigbee Alliance where Matter was developed out of the Connected Home over IP (CHIP) project. Running on Wi-Fi and Thread devices, Matter’s broad compatibility removes the complexity of designing for multiple smart home platforms.
