As mentioned before, a key performance characteristic of IR receivers is to receive data signals and to suppress all other sources of noise. No single automatic gain control (AGC) algorithm can completely suppress all noise and pass data signals. Vishay is the only IR receiver manufacturer to offer four different AGC response algorithms based on coding schemes and ambient noise conditions. These AGC algorithms allow developers to choose the most appropriate receiver.
