This tutorial will introduce remote control infrared receiver (IR) technology and provide an overview of key performance parameters. It will also explain important concepts such as sources of interference, coding schemes, signal conditioning, and Vishay’s automatic gain control (AGC) algorithms. Finally, this module will present Vishay's IR Receiver product portfolio and demonstrate the construction process for Vishay's thru-hole IR receivers including their patented internal shield technology.
