PCB real estate can be very valuable when miniaturization is a design goal. As RCA-HP series parts have higher power ratings compared to standard sulfur-resistant thick film chip resistors, the RCA-HP is the perfect solution to reduce the cost of PCB production and to reduce valuable board space occupied by resistors. For example, the RCA0805-HP size with power rating 0.5 W is capable of replacing two standard sulfur-resistant 1206 sized resistors, using 75% less space which is substantial. One RCA1206-HP can replace one standard sulfur-resistant 2010 chip resistor, occupying 58% less space. Reducing resistor component count on the PCB by using the high-power sulfur resistant resistors will also help to reduce pick-and-place costs during PCB production.
