The MSP430F6736 family of 16-bit RISC core devices has 128 kB Flash and 8 kB RAM. It additionally has intelligent integrated peripherals like a 320-segment LCD controller, 3 channel internal DMA, 32-bit multiplier, and a 16-bit WatchDog Timer. Addressing the demands of utility metering, the F6736 offers the developer a choice of multiple communication interfaces including UART, SPI, IrDA, and I²C. The MSP430 family is known for extremely low power consumption; this family is no exception. The new F6736 architecture maintains ultra-low power consumption at 1.4 µA in standby mode with ultra-fast wake up times of less than 3 µs. The 24 new F673x/F672x devices are immediately available in 100-pin and 80-pin QFP packages.
