The T4240 QorIQ Communications Processor combines 12 Power Architecture® processor physical cores supporting 24 virtual cores with high-performance data path acceleration logic, NXP Altivec technology SIMD engine, and network and peripheral bus interfaces. The T4240 processor features 3 clusters of 4 CPUs, with 2MB L2 per cluster and 256KB per thread including a 1.5MB CoreNet platform cache with ECC. T4240’s memory controller block provides support for three DDR3/DDR3L operating at up to 1.8GHz. Secure boot capability and a CoreNet fabric supporting coherent and non-coherent transactions amongst CoreNet endpoints. CoreNet enables connection between the core and the I/Os, datapath accelerators, and high and low speed peripheral interfaces. The processor is an integrated SOC and includes a wide variety of high speed I/O interfaces so users can design for any application need. The T4240 processor is highly integrated with 4 PCI Express® controllers, 2 SATA 2.0 controllers for storage interface, 2 Serial RapidIO controllers running at up to 5GHz with Type 11 messaging and Type 9 data streaming support, 1 Interlaken Look-Aside interface at up to 10GHz and 2 high-speed USB 2.0 controllers with integrated PHYs. The SerDes lanes can be Muxed to support a mix of I/O and Ethernet peripherals. The platforms supports up to 16 Gigabit Ethernet controllers and up to Four 10 Gigabit Ethernet interfaces. The Data Path Acceleration Architecture acts as an offload mechanism for the main CPU cores and includes a security engine, a Pattern matching engine and a Data Compression Engine.
