RAA211xxx Family of DC/DC Regulators

Renesas' RAA211xxx product family, with its 1% accurate voltage reference (-45°C to +105°C), powers the highest-precision loads with excellent accuracy (0.5% accuracy when operating at +25°C ambient temperature). Its unique pin-compatible wide V_IN buck variants with integrated FETs support up to 5 A of continuous output current with premium load and line regulation performance. These regulators integrate useful functions such as internal or programmable soft-start and a power good indicator. For safe operation, they also offer protection features such as cycle-by-cycle peak and valley current limit, input voltage UVLO, output voltage undervoltage (short-circuit) protection, and thermal shutdown. They come in either 20ld QFN (with fixed SS ramp time) or 16ld HTSSOP (with adj SS ramp time) package. This family's efficiency and scalability to the asynchronous 835 buck family offer excellent light-load performance and design options.

The RAA211xxx uses peak-current mode control architecture. Its PWM switching frequency is programmable to provide the best trade-off between transient response and efficiency. It also supports PFM operation to maximize light load efficiency and an external bias LDO input to further reduce power dissipation across the load range. The regulator also has an internal loop compensation circuit to reduce the external component count and BOM cost.
