NXP’s Kinetis K series microcontroller (MCU) portfolio includes high-performance 32-bit MCUs built on the ARM® Cortex®-M4 core. This series is designed for scalable performance, integration, connectivity, communications, HMI and security and offers additional features for exceptional integration with multiple fast 16-bit analog-to-digital converters (ADCs), digital-to-analog converters (DACs) and a programmable-gain amplifier (PGA), along with powerful, cost-effective signal conversion, conditioning and control. These MCU families are performance efficient and provide significant BOM savings through the smart on-chip integration.

The Kinetis K series MCU portfolio is supported by MCUXpresso Software and Tools for ARM® Cortex®-M cores.

Developed as a cohesive set of software development tools for Kinetis and LPC microcontrollers, the MCUXpresso software and tools bring together the best of NXP’s software enablement into one enablement platform for a shared software experience across a broader set of ARM Cortex-M MCUs.

Kinetis K0x Entry-Level MCUs

The Kinetis K0x MCU family is the new entry point into the Kinetis K series MCU portfolio and provides a bridge from the Kinetis L series MCU family. Devices start from 64 KB of flash and are offered in several small-footprint package options. The Kinetis K0x MCU family provides the perfect balance of performance and power consumption, running at 100 MHz with floating point unit, while offering low dynamic power consumption and best-in-class static current consumption with more than 10 flexible low-power modes. Kinetis K0x MCUs deliver run currents down to 125 µA/MHz, low-power modes down to 150 nA, and 6 µS wake-up from stop. Each family member combines the ultra-low-power performance with a streamlined level of integration optimized to meet the needs of a broad number of applications.

Kinetis K1x Baseline MCUs

The Kinetis K1x MCU family consists of general-purpose MCUs with a variety of memory and integration options. Devices start from 32 KB of flash in a small footprint of 5x5 mm 32 QFN package extending up to 1 MB in a 144 MAPBGA package with an optional rich suite of analog, communication, timing and control peripherals. Additionally, its pin compatibility, flexible low-power capabilities and innovative FlexMemory help to solve many of the major pain points for embedded designers. Next-generation Kinetis K1x MCUs are further optimized for performance and power consumption and offer more streamlined integration for further BOM cost reductions.

Kinetis K2x USB MCUs

The Kinetis K2x MCU family is pin-peripheral and software-compatible with many of the Kinetis K series MCU families, offering full and high-speed USB 2.0 On-The-Go, in addition to other features like device charge detect capability and USB crystal-less functionality. Devices start from 32 KB of flash in 5 x 5 mm 32-pin QFN packages extending up to 1 MB in a 144-pin MAPBGA package. These devices offer various levels of integration, with a rich suite of analog, communication, timing and control peripherals. Next-generation Kinetis K2x MCUs are further optimized for performance with industry-leading power consumption and offer more streamlined integration for further BOM cost reductions.

Kinetis K3x Segment LCD MCUs

The Kinetis K3x MCU family is pin-peripheral and software-compatible with the Kinetis K1x MCU family and adds a flexible low-power segment LCD controller with support for up to 320 segments.

Devices start from 64 KB of flash in 64 QFN packages extending up to 512 KB in a 144MAPBGA package with a rich suite of analog, communication, timing and control peripherals.

The Kinetis K4x MCU family is pin-peripheral and software-compatible with the Kinetis K1x MCU family and adds full-speed USB 2.0 On-The-Go with device charge detect capability and a flexible low-power segment LCD controller with support for up to 320 segments.

Devices start from 64 KB of flash in 64-pin QFN packages extending up to 512 KB in a 144-pin MAPBGA package with a rich suite of analog, communication, timing and control peripherals.
