The OPI1264 series is designed for transmission of information between one power supply voltage and another where the potentials during surge conditions are not greater than the guaranteed isolation voltage.  Data is transmitted by powering the LED and sensing the output on the phototransistor.  The OPI1264 can be used in many applications. Those applications include: High voltage isolation of up to 10,000 volts DC between input and output, electrical isolation in dirty environments, industrial, medical, and office equipment.
