The devices in the ML62Q1xxx series are designed to operate at an ambient temperature up to +105°C. They are also designed to tolerate the requirements of IEC61000-4-2, which requires tolerance to a discharge of ±8 kV. Many of the customers' products and the evaluation boards have been used to verify that the devices are tolerant up to ±30 kV discharges (compliant with IEC61000-4-2 testing methods). The high level of EMI tolerance allows customers to remove external noise protection components such as TVS diodes on input and output pins, which are typically used to protect less capable microcontrollers. The high level of ESD tolerance also greatly reduces the likelihood of requiring additional time and expenses associated with a re-spin of the customer's design, due to failing EMI testing in the end product evaluation process.
