hi band
The MAX40658 and MAX40659 transimpedance amplifiers have several major blocks included to implement this function for optical applications. On the input is a clamp that can handle up to 100 mA that allows accurate short and long range measurements up to 300 meters. There is also a low noise amplifier for Gain stage 1 that provides an accurate reading from the Avalanche Photodiode. This amplifier has 45 nA of input-referred noise. There is also a second amplifier that provides offset trimming so that the output can be tuned for the application. Both of these amps are then fed into a second gain block that amplifies the difference of the two amplifiers and converts the output to a differential signal. This amplifier adds a fixed gain of either 1.4 for the MAX40658 or 2.8 for the MAX40659. Finally, the entire TIA has a wide bandwidth of 520 MHz to capture very short pulses at the input.
