In the fiber optics market segment, available space is often a pervasive design constraint, especially for stand-alone optical transceiver modules and modules embedded on line cards. In addition, optical amplifiers and transponders often have stringent space requirements. When we talk about board space, we are referring both to the size of the IC and the total solution size. Other system requirements are: proper APD biasing with a high voltage power supply (up to 90V), the ability to provide 10’s of mA of current, a wide measurement dynamic range, and a fast transient response. LTC provides parts that are uniquely targeted for such applications.
