The functional block diagram for the POWR6AT6 shows six analog inputs that can be differentially sensed providing additional noise immunity. The 10-bit ADC allows the measurement of any of the analog inputs through the I²C interface. Any of the input voltages can be compared to an internal set point register that is programmed through the JTAG interface. An analog control signal via the internal 8-bit DAC can provide open or closed loop control of the trim pin of a voltage regulator. This enables power supplies to achieve much higher degrees of accuracy inexpensively. It also allows for margining power supplies or the varying of power supplies over their maximum range to test the robustness of the design to power supply variations.
