HX3’s configurable PHY provides customers with a unique capability to fine-tune SuperSpeed and High Speed eye diagrams for passing USB compliance, and driving longer PCB traces. Driving longer PCB traces provides the board designers more flexibility in placing the HX3 on a PCB. The HX3 has been tested for driving various PCB trace lengths ranging from 4.5 inches to 11 inches using standard 4-layer FR4. In comparison, many competitors are not able to go beyond six inches. The model channel loss also includes USB connectors and a ten feet USB cable. On an 11 inch PCB trace, the USB 3.0 eye diagram is still passing USB compliance with a good margin.
