In summary, this presentation has covered the operation of a family of devices which can detect signals at frequencies in the low Megahertz up to 10GHz. While these detectors do provide excellent linearity and temperature stability, they do need to be calibrated. When interfacing RF detectors to ADCs, it is generally possible to directly connect the two devices without needing any active interface circuitry. Finally, the choice of an RMS-responding detector versus a non-RMS responding detector will depend upon whether the characteristics of your signal are dynamically changing.
